Where Do You Get Free Moving Boxes – The Cheap Way to Pack and Move Your Belongings Empty Where Do You Get Free Moving Boxes – The Cheap Way to Pack and Move Your Belongings

Moving to a new house can be prohibitively expensive nowadays. For one, there’s the need to ship furniture and other stuff through a truck, which is either rented or driven by hired professional movers. The other concern, which is often dismissed as trivial, is the acquisition of moving boxes for packing up things. The cost of these commercially manufactured carton boxes can easily double up depending on the amount of items that one plans to move. But while these boxes are highly reusable, a lot of people would rather dispose of them soon to free up space in their new place.

Fortunately, through environmental campaigns and several responsible movers, cargo boxes are now being passed around at no cost. If you are planning to pack things yourself and rent a truck, you should consider these free moving boxes from various sources. After all, it is likely that you will move to a new home only once. To help you hoard several storage boxes for free, here is a list of places that you should check out:

Craigslist – Craigslist has been displaying ads for free moving boxes for some time now. Simply click the “Free” section to view sources or type the item in the search box. You should be able to see at least 20 people or companies offering various sizes of carton boxes at no charge. Look for sources near you so you can conveniently pick up these storage units. In addition, there are many other helpful sites where you can find free boxes.
Liquor Store – Scour the city for a shop that sells wines and spirits. It should have plenty of boxes to spare, especially those that were used to carry dozens of liquor bottles. These boxes are ideal for shipping books, DVDs and plates. Make sure to ask the staff politely.
Offices – Your own workplace may have several empty boxes which came with the new office equipment and shipped packages. Your boss and co-workers will be more than glad to get rid of these boxes. Some of them may be collapsed and stacked inside the storage room. Choose the ones that are sturdy and simply buy packaging tape to reconnect the sides.
Fastfood Stores – Check out a fastfood restaurant chains—like McDonald’s—and ask for carton boxes that were used to deliver frozen food items. You have a choice not to take boxes that are greasy or flimsy.
Bookstores – They may give you large boxes from which the books on display have arrived.
Hardware and Appliances Stores – These are ideal places to get free moving boxes. It would be great if you could ask them for boxes that still have Styrofoam padding as you can use them for packing fragile items.
